1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms & Conditions form an agreement between you and ModernCV. By accessing or using the service, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use ModernCV.

You must be legally able to enter into this agreement. If you use ModernCV on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.

2. The ModernCV service

ModernCV provides tools for creating, editing, storing, and exporting resumes and cover letters, including optional AI-assisted suggestions. Features may change as the service develops.

ModernCV does not guarantee employment, interviews, applicant-tracking-system results, or the accuracy of AI-generated or user-provided content.

3. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure. You are responsible for activity under your account and must notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account in a way that compromises security or violates these terms.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you add to ModernCV. You grant ModernCV a limited license to host, process, reproduce, and format that content only as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service and provide features you request.

You are responsible for ensuring your content is accurate, lawful, and that you have the right to use it. Review every document and AI suggestion before submitting it to an employer or another third party.

5. Acceptable use

• Do not use ModernCV for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful activity.
• Do not upload malware, attempt unauthorized access, bypass limits, disrupt the service, or probe its security.
• Do not infringe intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
• Do not scrape, resell, or exploit the service except as permitted by law or with our written permission.
• Do not use AI features to generate prohibited or abusive content or to misrepresent qualifications and experience.

6. ModernCV intellectual property

ModernCV and its software, interface, branding, templates, and original materials are protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited right to use the service under these terms, no rights are transferred to you. You may use exported documents for your personal and professional applications.

7. Paid access

Some features require payment. Prices, renewal terms, cancellation rights, and refund information are shown before purchase and are further described in the Subscription Terms. Taxes may apply depending on your location.

8. Availability and disclaimers

We aim to keep ModernCV available and secure, but the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every error will be corrected. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ModernCV is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for lost opportunities, profits, data, or goodwill arising from use of the service. These limits do not apply where liability cannot be limited by law, including liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Suspension, termination, and changes

You may stop using ModernCV at any time. We may restrict or terminate access when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, non-payment, or a serious or repeated breach of these terms. Where practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

We may update these terms to reflect changes to the service or law. Material changes will be communicated where required. Mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence continue to apply.
